A reliable charge point starts with the electrical survey
An EV charger is a sustained electrical load, so installation is more than fixing a unit to the wall. The incoming supply, maximum demand, earthing arrangement, consumer unit, cable route, parking position and connectivity all influence the design.
We survey EV charging requirements for Leeds homes, landlords and workplaces. The quotation identifies the charger, electrical enabling work, route, protection, load-management needs and any items that depend on the network operator or another party.
What our ev charger installation service includes
What we check before installation
We confirm the vehicle and charging expectations, off-street parking position, property supply, consumer-unit capacity, earthing, cable length and likely data connection. Photos can help with an initial estimate, but some properties need an on-site survey.
- Incoming supply and maximum demand
- Consumer-unit protection and spare capacity
- Suitable charger position and reach
- Internal, external or buried cable route
- Load curtailment or dynamic load balancing
- Wi-Fi, mobile or wired connectivity
- Permissions for rented, leasehold or managed property
Smart charging and product choice
Private domestic and workplace charge points sold in Great Britain are subject to smart-charge-point rules. The right product also depends on vehicle compatibility, tethered or untethered preference, solar integration, app features and available connectivity.
We avoid recommending a unit solely on headline charging speed. The usable rate may be limited by the vehicle, supply, charger setting or load-management design.
EV charging for landlords and workplaces
Shared parking, billing, permissions, future expansion and maintenance become more important on multi-user sites. A staged design can reserve capacity or infrastructure for later sockets rather than treating each installation in isolation.
Current OZEV grants
Government EV charge-point grants and eligibility change over time. As of 2026, support remains available for some renters, flat owners, landlords, workplaces and other eligible applicants. Grant claims require the applicable scheme rules, approved equipment and an authorised installer. We confirm whether grant work is within our verified scope before it forms part of a quotation.
Testing, setup and handover
After installation, the circuit and charging equipment are tested, settings are checked and the customer is shown normal operation, isolation and smart controls. Documentation is provided for the electrical work completed.
Recent ev charger installation work in Leeds

EV charger installer Leeds — what a standard installation includes
A standard installation covers a wall- or post-mounted 7kW charger within around 10 metres of the consumer unit, a dedicated circuit with its own RCD protection and surge protection, an earthing arrangement that meets the current regulations for EV charging, commissioning of the charger and app, and the certificate and notification. Our standard installation starts from £850 including a tethered 7kW charger; installing a charger you have bought yourself starts from £350. Longer cable runs, a consumer unit upgrade or a driveway post are quoted separately. See EV charger prices.
Which EV charger?
We install the main UK brands — Ohme, Hypervolt, Zappi, Pod Point, Easee and others — and will recommend based on how you charge. If you are on an off-peak EV tariff, a charger with good scheduling matters more than the badge. If you have or plan solar, a Zappi or similar with solar diversion makes sense. Tethered chargers are more convenient; untethered look tidier and suit households with more than one car type.
EV charging for landlords, flats and workplaces
We install chargers for rental properties, small blocks with allocated parking and business premises across Leeds. Workplace and landlord installations may be eligible for the OZEV grants referenced above; we can confirm eligibility and handle the paperwork where the scheme requires an approved installer.

EV Charger Installation FAQs
Can any house have a 7kW charger?
Not automatically. Supply capacity, maximum demand, earthing, cable route and the vehicle must be assessed first.
Do I need a consumer-unit upgrade?
Not always. Existing protection and spare capacity are checked, and any required work is included in the quotation.
Can I charge from a normal socket?
A dedicated charge point is the normal long-term solution. Routine EV charging creates a sustained load and should be assessed properly.
Can you install a charger at a rented property?
Potentially, with the required landlord or freeholder permission and a suitable parking arrangement.
Are EV charger grants still available?
Some schemes are available in 2026, but eligibility and values change. Check current GOV.UK guidance and confirm installer eligibility before relying on a grant.
Can the charger use surplus solar energy?
Some chargers support solar-aware operation, but compatibility with the generation, meter arrangement and control equipment must be confirmed.
How long does an EV charger installation take?
Most standard installations are done in half a day. Longer cable runs or a new consumer unit can make it a full day.
Do I need to upgrade my fuse box for an EV charger?
Sometimes. The charger needs a spare way and suitable RCD protection. If the existing board is old or full, we will quote a replacement at the same time rather than fit a charger to an unsuitable board.
Can you install a charger if I have no driveway?
Not usually — on-street charging cables across a pavement are not permitted in Leeds without a council gully installation. We can advise on the council scheme if that applies.
Do you install chargers in Horsforth, Rawdon and Adel?
Yes — north-west Leeds is one of our busiest areas for EV chargers, along with Roundhay, Chapel Allerton and Pudsey.
